I recently watched a movie where a beautiful woman was asking the man of her dreams, a prince, “Would you take me as I am?” “Would you accept me with all of my flaws and faults?” I smiled watching the movie because that is exactly how Jesus Christ accepts us, just as we are.
Knowing Jesus Christ, the Christian faith, and the Maker of Heaven and Earth is an amazing experience. When I came back to the church after living a very worldly life of men, smoking, drinking, clubs, emotionally out of control, a depression, and self-loathed thinking, Christ changed me from the inside out. Woman, it all began with faith, belief, and a simple prayer.
Most church services end with an invitation to know Christ as Savior, King, and Lord over your life. If you have never heard this, then listening with an open heart. There is a God. He had a beautiful Son whom He sent to Earth to redeem man of his sinful desires and thoughts. Your questions may be, “What is sin, how do I know if I sin, and what can I do about it?” To believe there is something after this life is freedom. A freedom to know eternity, you won’t just be put into the ground, and then ………nothing.
A belief in a powerful Maker who sustains us by His very hand and presence, a Maker who formed us in a womb exactly the way you and I were meant to be. A Maker who loves man so much He sent His Son to this Earth to die so we could live in eternity with Him. It sounds almost to good to be true, but it is. Do you want to be apart of this eternity, to know this Maker in an intimate way, and His Son whom died for you and me?
If you desire this relationship, then repeat these simple words from your heart and believe. “Lord Jesus Christ, I admit that I am a sinner and I need You in my life. I believe You died on the cross at Calvary for my sins to be forgiven. I confess my life has been without You, but I want to invite You inside to change me, to live for You, and to make You Lord over my life. Thank You for Your grace, Your love, and forgiveness, in Jesus name I pray, amen.
You may ask, “What did I just do?” You have just invited the King of Kings, Lord of Lords into your life. The Bible declares you are now, “a new creation in Christ, the old has passed, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:7) From this day forth, I pray you begin a search for a Christian Church. You may ask, “How do I do this?” Most everyone knows a Christian, ask if you may accompany them to church, search online for Christian churches near you and attend several until you feel this is where you are suppose to be.
After finding a church, I pray you have a Bible, buy a Bible study guide or a resource for new Christians to study and understand what you may find difficult to read at first. Begin a prayer life. Prayer is simply communication with God. I find a quiet place in my house and sit. I sit and thank God first and foremost for what He has done in my life. I pray, “Maker of Heaven and Earth, God Almighty, I give You praise and glory for who You are and the power in which You hold the Earth in Your hand. Thank You for my family, thank You for this life on Earth, thank You for Christ dying on the cross for me, giving me hope for something I can not see, but believe is there, eternity. Thank You for changing my behaviors, attitudes, and thoughts about myself. What can I do for You today Lord? Who can I bless for Your name sake?”
Find a Bible study group for new Christians so you can meet new people who are learning just like you and pray for seasoned Christians to guide, teach, and encourage you in your walk with Christ. I pray you begin to read through Scripture and compare your thoughts with God’s thoughts. I pray you read through the Bible and find those Scriptures that open your heart to Christ and repeat them over and over. I pray you ask the Lord for your purpose and plan; why you were created. I pray you enjoy the rest of your life with your King.
Let us pray out loud and CONFESS the Word of the Living God; a prayer for repentance, new life in Christ, and forgiveness
I am so thankful for Your love. My heart overflows with joy, thanksgiving, and a new-ness only understood through Christ. Thank You for accepting me the way that I am, with all of my faults, all of my sins, and all of my worldly ways. I am thankful for Your grace.
I pray this day I follow Christ and You alone. I pray to begin a relationship, a courtship, and a lasting connection until I am brought me home. I pray I can let go of worldly desires, wrong thinking, wrong emotions, while reading the Word with all of it’s power and promises.
Give me the strength for each day to grow, to learn, and to know Christ in a deeper way. Bring me to the church Lord want me to attend; a church alive to worship, prayer, the Holy Spirit, and Scripture. Help me to find a group where I can meet new Christians and seasoned elders to teach, pray, and encourage my walk. I pray to be unashamed and stand for Christ telling other people my testimony too. In the name of Jesus of Nazareth I pray, amen
