Job’s Daughters

A father’s love is priceless.  The paternal love of endearment experienced by many women is a precious gift to be treasured,  tucked away in a secret recess of the heart.  Several daughters experienced the love of a father. He prayed for them, loved them,  and sacrificed for them.  Job was a righteous man who adored his three daughte

“In the land of Uz, there lived a man whose name was Job.  This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.  He had seven sons and three daughters, and he owned seven thousand sheep,  three thousand camels,  five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants.  He was the greatest man among all the people of the East.  His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes,  and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.  When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking,  ‘Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.’  This was Job’s regular custom.”  (Job 1:1-5).

Job put God first in his life. A father was walking by faith and concerned for his own family’s walk with God. He loved his daughters, wanting the best for them physically and spiritually.

Many women have grown up in the home of a godly father’s love. I pray you cherish those moments and thank God daily for His precious gift of a strong man in your life.  My daughter, Maddie, has been given a wonderful father in Tommy.  Just as Job, he is dedicated to his family and his sweet daughter.

My husband has decided in his heart to be a devoted,  faithful,  steady,  loving, and prayerful father.  Tommy prays for our family everyday and guards his children protectively.  He whispers to Maddie so tenderly,  “You are the only daughter I have.”  He proudly displays the pictures of the  “Father Daughter Dance”  the two shared with a dinner date and dancing.

When you love someone,  you invest in them.

When you love someone, you will find a common ground to build a relationship.  Tommy and Maddie have found a common ground in their love of hockey.  Our Florida Panthers have captured the hearts of these two,  especially Maddie who periodically rattles off heights,  weights,  stats,  goals,  plays,  and positions of her favorite players.  These two also spend time together Saturday mornings when Tommy drives Madelyn to her gymnastic class.  For one hour,  he watches her twist,  turn,  flip and flop to her little heart’s content.  It was by his own suggestion and intention the two spend more time together doing something she loved.

This is a father’s love. My daughter knows the love of a dad, but also the love of Jesus Christ. Maddie gave her life to Christ when she was four years old,  baptized when she was eight,  and finished her first prayer book when she was ten.  It is the love of her heavenly Father which fills her spirit to spread the Gospel to other girls her own age.

I encourage you to pray for your father,  the father figures in your life,  and for your husband’s walk as a father.  Be their strong armor bearers,  putting on the whole armor of God over them each and every day.  I pray you are thankful for the father or father figures God has placed in your life.  If you have never experienced the love of a father or are learning the love God has for you,  then continue in prayer.  God wants you to know love.  The inexhaustible love He has for you.  Pray for a godly spiritual elder to teach you,  encourage you,  and walk beside you.

Pray over your husband’s spiritual growth as a father.  The time he spends with your children are priceless.  If your spouse is not walking in the Christian faith,  you are waiting for a change of heart,  or desiring him to be this  “Job”,  find Scriptures to confess over him.  Pray over him and declare God’s love for him and his walk.  Lasting changes take time to grow.  Be thankful and encourage your husband with every step he takes to love his children. Never give up hope in what the Maker of Heaven and Earth can do through your family.  We serve a big God,  a Mighty God,  the Living God,  so dream,  pray,  hope, and love big!  The Lord is seeking godly men to work through,  bless through,  and spread the Gospel through.

I love this reading. I would like to encourage any divorced, never been married or widowed mom to continue praying for your children’s dad or a godly male influence to come beside your sons and daughters. Just please keep in mind that Jesus may send no one to you for your children but would fill in all the holes and gaps Himself for you and your children as a loving Husband and Father.
